This software operates as a crypto-native, open-source operating system designed for anonymity and privacy. It runs independently from the host computer and routes all network traffic through the Tor network by default.

No accounts, no custody, no centralized control. Trust is minimized to open-source software integrity and the Tor network.

Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) is a privacy-focused live operating system that can be booted from a USB stick. It leaves no trace on the computer after shutdown and forces all Internet traffic through the Tor network.

Availability & access

Operating model: Live amnesic system (USB boot)

Tails runs entirely from system memory and does not use the internal hard disk by default. Memory is wiped automatically when shutting down. An optional encrypted Persistent Storage can be created on the USB device.
